Why the Frame Rings of FX800 and Larger Butt Fusion Machines Are Finished in Black
In the FX series of butt fusion machines, models starting from FX800 use a black finish on the upper and lower frame rings instead of the standard blue commonly seen on smaller machines.
This difference is not a styling decision, but the result of material characteristics and manufacturing considerations.
For FX800 and larger models, the frame rings are produced using a material formulation that includes additional components. After high-temperature forging, the surface of these parts presents certain visible imperfections. This surface condition is an objective result of the material and forging process.
If a blue paint finish were applied, these imperfections would become more visually noticeable, which would negatively affect the overall appearance and perceived quality of the machine. To avoid this issue and achieve a more consistent and stable visual result, a black finish is used for the frame rings.
Therefore, the use of a black finish on the frame rings of FX800 and larger models is not intended to change the product’s visual identity, but to better match the surface condition resulting from the material choice and forging process. It is a practical decision made to ensure a more uniform and balanced appearance for large-scale equipment.
