Product Knowledge | FX Series: Digital vs. Analog Pressure Gauge
FX Series hydraulic units are equipped as standard with an analog pressure gauge, while a digital pressure gauge is available as an option.
Both gauges are used to monitor hydraulic pressure during operation. The main difference is how the pressure value is displayed and what happens if electrical power is interrupted.
With an analog pressure gauge, the operator reads the pressure from the pointer on the dial. Compared with a digital display, the reading is less direct and may require closer observation. However, the gauge works mechanically and does not depend on electrical power, so the pressure can still be read even if the machine loses power.
A digital pressure gauge displays the pressure directly as a numerical value. This makes the reading quicker, clearer, and easier to check accurately during operation. Its limitation is that the display requires electrical power. If power is lost, the screen turns off and the pressure value can no longer be seen.
This difference can be particularly noticeable during the cooling stage. If an unexpected power failure occurs, an analog gauge still allows the operator to check whether hydraulic pressure is being maintained, while a digital gauge will no longer display the pressure value.
